Verbascum Thiapsus L.
- Powerful biennial herb up to 2-3 meters from the family figwort. In the first year the plant develops only fibrous root and basal rosette of leaves. And only in the second year there is a direct thick stem, densely covered with leaves, which is growing rapidly.
The large lower leaves shaped like spears. Ovate or elliptical middle and upper leaves are covered with soft down. Large pale yellow or golden-yellow flowers are collected in long dense spicate inflorescence. Flowers bloom gradually from the bottom to the top. Flowering royal scepter in June-August. Fruits - polyspermous boxes rounded, the seeds ripen in August - October.

Preparations from mullein have: anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hemostatic, emollient, expectorant, enveloping, anticonvulsant, astringent properties.
Traditional medicine treats decoctions and infusions mullein sore throat, bronchitis, coughing, hoarseness, whooping cough, asthma, pneumonia, bladder inflammation, edema, kidney disease, chronic cystitis, headaches, diabetes, neuralgia.
Preparations from mullein take in inflammatory diseases of the stomach and intestines, liver, spleen, jaundice, atherosclerosis, hypertension.
