US scientists have proved the benefit of low-carbohydrate diets. According to a study conducted by a team of scientists from the University of Alabama, even a small reduction in the number of carbohydrates consumed can lead to a significant reduction in the deep body fat in the abdominal area.
According to study author Dr. Barbara Gower, it can also reduce the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
In the study, researchers analyzed the different types of diets that differed in carbohydrates. In study participants who reduced their consumption of carbohydrates was 11 percent less body fat in the abdomen compared to the other participants.
